This May, ImproMafia calls on the ghosts of the dead

From exotic fox maidens and seductive spirits to cannibal ogres and spider monsters, Jorogumo touches on the ethereal and eerie side of Eastern fairy tales and ghostly lore - and explores Japanese culture through the eyes of geisha girls, monks and samurai.

But with each successive tale of love, murder and revenge, the room grows ever darker as ghostly figures awake from their slumber and descend upon the theatre. A restless summer wind is blowing - the spirits of the dead have been summoned...

St Love's finest are in the slammer!

ImproMafia's flagship show is back for a special one-off performance this Saturday 21st April. But this time, our para-medical, paranormal team will find themselves in a particularly sticky situation - locked up in the St Love Maximum Security Penitentiary.

Can our intrepid heroes work out why they're doing the jailhouse rock amongst the toughest of St Love's hardened criminals? And what supernatural threat will they have to battle, alongside tough wardens and poor prison hygiene? As always, it's up to you the audience to decide in this unique theatrical event.

If you have never seen this wildly popular show before, this is the perfect introduction to a world packed with romance, blood and supernatural excitement.

Prepare to enter improvisation stadium and face the ultimate battle! Inspired by high-stakes Japanese game shows, ImproMafia's flagship competition Iron Improviser returns again in 2012 - and this time it is bigger than ever.

Playing out over three huge nights throughout the year, Iron Improviser is tripling the laughs, tripling the drama and tripling the pain. The first heat hits the Brisbane Arts Theatre stage for a special Saturday night show this April, and only the very best will make it to the grand final at the end of the year...

If you had your time again, what would you change?

Welcome to your future... or is it your past? In a dystopian world where true happiness is scarce, one man is caught in a loop. Forced to relive part of his life over and over again, he realises he needs to come to grips with his past mistakes in order to move forward into his future.

LoopTM , the spiritual successor to ImproMafia's popular 2009 sci fi tale Untopia, is a personal journey that asks if human error can be course-corrected by advanced technology.

The 2012 Line Up

This February, our 2012 season of Sunday Best shows at the Brisbane Arts Theatre gets underway!

ImproMafia kicks of the year at 7.30pm on Sunday February 26 with Puppets Vs People, helmed by special guest director Jon Williams from Sydney's Impro Australia. Puppets Vs People is ImproMafia's first foray into puppetry, gently and humourously exploring what it means to be human. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

And our February show is just the beginning. There is a whole bunch of great Sunday Best night shows lined up at the BAT, including...

LoopTM - Sunday 18th March. One man must relive part of his life over and over again to correct a previous mistake.

Jorogumo: The Spider Woman - Sunday 20th May. A night of chills inspired by Japanese story-telling, myth and ghostly lore.

Rock Opera - Sunday 24th June. Tim Redmond (Impro Melbourne) directs a night showcasing the best of Broadway, the West End and rock and roll theatrics.

Add to that a special one off Iron Improviser Heat on Saturday 14th April and a performance of ImproMafia favourite Prognosis: Death! on Saturday 21st April, and impro in Brisbane is looking rosy.
